Fashionable Easter Treats

I would never consider myself a baker by any means but Pinterest definitely gets me reaching for the flour and measuring cups.  I went on two HUGE baking extravaganzas this past fall and winter and it was no different for the new season.  Here are three different Easter treats I made this week that were SO simple but came out looking so cute, and fashionable.  You all can for sure make them to spruce up your Easter table!

Easter Bark

-Buy all your favorite Easter treats-- Easter moth balls, M&Ms, jelly beans, peanut M &Ms etc; go wild...
-Buy bars of chocolate (8 bars will fill up one tray)-- You can either do all milk chocolate or mix it up with cookies and cream or dark
-Melt the chocolate in the microwave and spread it out on wax paper on a tray
-Pour the Easter candy all over the melted chocolate
-Put in freezer until hardens
-Break up all the pieces and enjoy!

Peanut M&M Muffins

Ingredients:
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup of butter, softened
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
5 tablespoons of light brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 bag of Peanut Easter Pastel M&M’s

-Mix up all of the ingredients
-Put in cupcake tray at 375 degrees for 14 minutes
-Enjoy them fast, they'll go quickly!

Sunflower Cake
-Make your usual store bought chocolate cake in a circle pan
-Use chocolate icing
Outline the cake with yellow Peeps
-Place chocolate chips in center of cake and on the side

After 40 days of no junk food, I'm ready to eat it all!

Fashionista Easter

Easter is right around the corner and that means family, cute desserts, lots of chocolate (no more lent woo!) and of course strutting some new spring fashion.  Easter is one of my favorite holidays because there is just something about the freshness of the new spring weather that just makes the day so much more cheerful and vibrant.  Whenever I plan my outfit for Easter I always try to incorporate the way the weather makes me feel with my look.  I have come up with four different Fashionista Easter looks that I think really match the joy that Easter brings-- hope you all enjoy!

Nonni & New York: Your Italian Basement

It's been over a month since I've seen my adorabley cute and perfect grandparents so I only thought it was appropriate to post a Nonni & New York post.  I miss my grandparents and New York so much so it's always nice to look back on pictures and look forward to more memories.

For this post I am giving the inside look to a very Italian-fied basement.  I always remember going down to the basement at my Nonni's with my cousins and putting on concerts and what not.  We would always go into the cold cellar and explore and wonder why in the world my Nonni had SO many jars of sauce (I now know it takes a lot of sauce to feed our hungry Italian family).  While I was staying at my grandparents while interning in NYC I explored the basement once again and it brought back so many good memories.

Everything in the basement reminds me of how special my grandparents are to me.  Their homemade sauce, buckets to stomp the grapes for their wine and the hanging of the prosciutto are all things that I have grown up with.  The basement may not be your typical basement but it is home to so many memories and items that mean so much to me.

What traditions does your family have that you love, I'd love to know!

Five Pleasures

Today, believe it or not we got a SNOW DAY! Yes, March 25th and eight inches of snow!  It was a nice relaxing day after the fun weekend even if our friends did barricade our door with snow so we couldn't get out!!  These little things brought extra smiles to the week and I'm looking forward to even more smiles and pleasures during the short time I have left at the promise land.

 {New snack I'm obsessed with, it's like dessert but healthy-- dried figs, gotta try 'em!}

 {Nothing like a buy one get one 50% off sale at PacSun, find some adorable items!}

 {Out for margaritas and fishbowls for one of my good friend's 22nd!}

 {LOVING my new Chromelet bracelet from my favorite designer diva friend, Julie Himmel}

{Annual Paul's Walk for ALS: great fun with friends on a beautiful day for a good cause}

Hope these little things can bring some pleasure to your life too!
